The First One

Finally, I got this blog working. It uses Zonelets, a very handy system which requires a bit of elbow grease, but should now allow me to quickly and easily make new posts without creating a massive mess. My previous blog was quite literally made of copy-pasting lumps of html, which makes for an unwieldy reading experience when the number of posts gets too large. That's the aim of Matriel in a nutshell; the same webmaster, but a more streamlined experience. Upgrades to the viewer and webmaster experience, without sacrificing the web 2.0 vibes.

I have a few aims for this website.

  1. I want a place where I can talk about movies. I watch a LOT of movies (around 100 a year), but I don't have many people to talk to about it. I'm lucky enough that there is a rental store in my city, but I can't only yap to the owner of that establishment - no, I need to inflict this pain on as many people as I can.
  2. I would like to highlight cool Neocities for people in a format where that recommendation isn't fleeting.
  3. I want to make more shrines! They're lots of fun.
  4. I like attention....................................................... I will probably install a guestbook or that sort of thing.
  5. I want to yap about my personal life, but it's awkward doing that on twitter where everything needs to be distilled into bite-sized chunks. I refuse to touch Tumblr with a ten-foot barge pole, so here I am.

I'm thinking I might kill a few birds with one stone and make this blog multi-purpose, including movies and recommendations into my posts. Then you're not just subjected to the ravings of a madman, but also get to find something new.

Finally, I can't finish a blog post without having talked who I am. I like art, I like computers, and I really like the internet. If I could accomplish one thing in my lifetime, it would be to always have continued to learn and expand my horizons. I have a thirst for knowledge, which mostly manifests in reading tome-like books and saying pseudo-intelligent things about movies I like. My dream career would be a Roger Ebert-esque movie critic. I always have a messy room, and I hate my job. I know how to drive, cook, AND have a good relationship with my parents, so I'm a rare LGBT specimen indeed. This is my third Neocities website. The first one, Rain's Space, is big and fun but kind of messy. The second, Mecha Choice, is a simple selection tree to help you choose which mecha anime you should watch. This one? Who knows.....
